About us
Just a few of us who live up here and like keeping track of what's going on.
Who we are
Forest County Local is run by a very small crew. Not a company, not the county, not a club. Just a few people.
We have lifelong ties to the Northwoods. We've lived up north since the '90s, the last 25 years right here in Forest County, and were coming up to visit long before that.
Why we do it
We love it up here. The small-town feel, the people, and all there is to do: the trails, the lakes, the woods, a Friday fish fry, deer camp. We wanted one place to see what's going on without digging through a dozen websites and Facebook groups.
What it takes
Keeping this going takes time and a bit of money. A few times a day the site checks the county, the trail clubs, the Weather Service, NOAA and the DNR. Every week we go through the paper for events. We look at every ice report and brag board picture before it goes up. And running the site isn't free.
Why there are ads
That's why we ask local businesses to advertise or sponsor a page. It keeps the site going, and we'd rather it be the bait shop or the supper club down the road than some national outfit. The ones who do are on our sponsors page.
Ads here are plain: a name, a picture and a link, labeled Sponsor. No pop-ups and nothing that follows you around the internet. The privacy page spells that out.
